It’s been so long

I can’t believe it has been so long since I have written anything… A lot has happen in last year. Still have all the horses Fancy, Penny & Trouble and have added a new one to the bunch Katie Jane, more on her later. Got another job, yes I know I said I would never go back to an office atmosphere but I did, and it’s not to bad other than I have to sit so much

But I think the biggest change over the last year is we lost my mother in law. It was definitely a year of ups and downs, we think we were getting better you know that old sayin 1 step forward 2 steps back well that was our year last year with her. But one thing it has taught me you got to live and do while you can because you never know what’s around the corner.

There are so big changes coming mostly along the horse venue.. Cwilder has decided she wants to ride, hence the purchase of KatieJane. She’s what we affectionally call a hony , just barely the size of a horse, but the personality of a pony. Hoping she’s safe enough with just enough sass to help Cwilder to become a good rider. Hoping the weather will break here to allow more riding time for her.

Trouble is getting ready to be sold as a broodmare as we have been fighting the last two years to get her sound, everything we have tried just isn’t working so hoping to find her a good home to have some nice babies for someone.

Fancy and Penny are another year older 29 & 28 and both are still kicking around and looking pretty darn good if I say so myself. Well off to get some barn chores done and clear some clutter

It’s release day…Thick

Yep that’s right it’s release day for Thick by Scott Hildreth. Nope I haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but I’m sure I will have it read by the end of the day… Wonder if I could call in sick and drop the kids off at the Gramapa’s ( C wilder’s nickname for grandparents why say two names when you can combine right? )

Any how here you go…. Seriously check out this and his other books I have not been disappointed by any I’ve read so far.

Nash

Okay well we’ve made it to the 7th mark with Nash.  He has turned out to be such a good little dog thankfully he’s not gonna be as big as his daddy, I don’t think I could take another huge dog in the house.

He has learned how to sit, shake and heel we’re still working on lay down I don’t know if we will ever get that down pat.

Here’s a picture of his sister Reba she looks like a little wolf. My sister in law has her and she is a hot mess Reba, not my sister in law. It just amazes me how different litter mates can be. She looks bigger but she has that nice fluffy hair where Nash has smoother hair go figure.

And the horses are doing okay still not riding but they are just hanging out here’s Trouble and Fancy in the rain. Trouble loves to be out in the rain I can’t figure out why but it doesn’t bother her at all. Now Penny Pony she’s not gonna step a foot out of the barn if it’s raining such the Diva. Fancy she could care less either way she’s been such a good girl for me. She has been such a blessing to own for the last 24 years, she is starting to show her age but she still will trot and sometimes lope out of the barn.  It’s all I can do not to climb on her and take her for a spin. She’s my special girl.

Introducing…..Nash

Well we have a new family member. A feisty little red head and I guess you could call them freckles. He is a little fearless but I guess if I had eight brothers and sisters I’d be a little fearless too.

Some might know that we lost our dog Reid back around the 1st of November. Well in the last couple of weeks we thought we might be ready to get something else.  You know when your used to  having two dogs, you just feel a little lost with one.

So anyhow here he is. 630We decided to keep going with the Sports themed names. Reid was named after motocross rider Chad Reed. And since I’m a big New York Rangers fan, and everyone agreed on the name Nash that’s what he got 🙂  He is a brusier of puppy. I also forgot how much work a little guy is. The last 3 dogs we have had have been rescues so the have been pretty easy to house train. But look at that little face I think he’ll be worth it in the end. Funny thing is my sister in law has his sister Reba she a little red like him. And then my best friend bought his other sister Rumor a cute little blue thing.  I don’t know how we keep ending up with heelers, but I really do like these dogs, they are pretty fearless and most are great with kids. He’s got some pretty big shoes to fill but I think he’s up to it.

Here’s him and his sister napping at the barrel races yesterday img_20170225_190949097

My TBR List

Okay it is a little terrifying, in my quest to get the chaos which is my house under control I thought well I’ll update my TBR ( my to read list). You know we all have one you can’t be a book lover and not have a TBR list.  Well anyhow I usually carry a spiral notebook and I call it my things to do book.  Yes my lists are so long that I need to use the whole notebook. Yes its a scary thought but what’s even more terrifying is that I usually need two of them bad puppies a year.  I’m not talking the 80 page kind either, I’m talking the nice big fat 5 subject notebooks. But any how I’m getting off topic. I decided I’m going to stop toting that thing around and try to use my computer/ slash new definitely ultra cool phone to help with the chaos.

So I’m going through my “notebooks” I decided to computerized my TBR list. When I got done I had over 350 titles that somewhere in the last year or so I have written down that I wanted to read.  Yes you heard me 350+ titles that’s not counting the 200-300 books I did read in the last year. I might really need to get a new Kindle.  To bad they don’t have a point system to earn new Kindle’s. You know for every book you read and leave a review on you get points then you can then turn those points into prizes.  Oh well I better get busy looks like I got a lot of reading to do.  And I did re-read a lot of the blurbs on these books to make sure it was something I still wanted to read there’s no telling how long the TBR list would of been if I hadn’t culled it some.

You Know When…

You know when you are in the middle of reading a good book then you get an email that a new book has been released from one of your favorite authors …. your like do I stop reading the book I’m in the middle of and start reading the new book?

Well, I hate to say it … I ditched the current book I promise I’ll get back to soon… I’ve just been waiting so long for this new book to be released.  It’s funny how we get so invested in these characters…

What the Heck….

Okay I’m going to have the set the scene here and please remember I am so not a professional writer. Like you couldn’t already tell.  Anyhow it’s really cold here right now like I think the low was in the single digits last night because when hubby went to feed this am he said it was 12 degrees.  That’s just wrong no matter how you look at it.  It should not be that cold down here ever right?  I don’t know how the people way up north deal with that I’m straight up scared of the cold.

But back to my story, I am awoken at 4:15 am this morning with 3 of our city’s finest in my driveway. And I thank God for them everyday. We have a really good police force here in my town. My son who is home from college, called them said that he heard someone walking outside his window and called 911.  Didn’t wake the rest of us. I heard something walking around then noticed the front door was unlocked I open the front door and there all four of them were my son, and 3 police officers.  Did he think to wake the rest of the family up? Did he think to wake his dad up?  Nope nada. I was thinking what the heck are the police doing here? Did someone die and they were coming tell us? I had all the yucky thoughts going through my head.

Well after spending a good 15 minutes walking all around my yard they determined it must of been an animal.  Well dud I could of told them that because since the new neighbors built their fence and took the light down in our back yard the deer have decided that our yard is the path of least resistance to get across the street to the woods. We have a nice 8-10 point buck that comes through our yard every morning to get to where he is going.  I guess with the ice/snow on the ground it was a lot louder than usual.  And he does take the path by both of the kids windows.

Told him next time wake us up and we could let him know that our backyard has become the new deer crossing path. So we have been giving him a lot of grief about it this morning. It has been a lot of fun. This is a picture of one earlier this fall. I guess I need to remind him the owl in the back too.  I should known since The Great Armadillo Incident of 2006… it earned him an armadillo birthday cake that year

Snow Day

img_0601

Yep it’s a snow day down here in the south, where parent’s are up at the crack of dawn checking school websites, the news, and various Facebook and Twitter feeds.

And let’s face it now matter how old you are a snow day is a real reason to get excited. We get to dig the sleds out of the shed and hope they’re still usable because you know we don’t get a lot of the  white fluffy stuff down here.  Then we have traipse across town to “The Hill”. Yep that’s right my little town has it’s very own sled hill I bet the city planners didn’t think that would happen.  But you know if there is a hill worth sledding, the kids okay really the adults will scope it out and use it to our advantage.  Because you know us adults have to test it first to make sure it’s “safe” for the kids.  We use my son’s friends dad as an example “Don’t you remember when Mr. Billy broke his wrist sledding” We got to make sure it’s safe.  I wonder how long that excuse is going to last hmmm.

And yes, I was at the local hardware store getting a new sled because the red one in the picture has made one to many trips we got a nice new lime green one to play on today.
